Detoxification

I know I need to
Get you out of my system;
Wash away the taste of
Your addictive mouth
With the smoke of this cigarette,
Clutched in my hand.
I need to scrub my body clean,
Wiping away your touches
That have tainted me.
I wish I could
Detoxify my brain;
Annihilate all the memories
Of you and me.
But they linger on and on,
Recurring in my dreams;
Flowing through my mind
Like the blood in my veins.
